September Saturday...

Hey, it's billyb! Thanks Bill, for all you do to keep us up and running every single week ~ you are truly irreplaceable!
Bill managed to to get some great pics this week, in spite of being camera-challenged after last week's rain wiped out his own camera. Alternating between an old borrowed camera and some creative moves with the waterlogged one, we have our photos - billyb would never let us down!

Drip, Drip, Drip...

For only the second time since we started protesting 16 months ago, the number of American fatalities in Iraq remained the same from one week to the next. Only the second time. A reason to be thankful, to be sure, but short lived. Since Saturday we have sadly, needlessly, lost four five eleven more brave heroes. (Oh my gosh, I can't believe those numbers - will go back and double check what happened!) Whether a steady stream, or an agonizing drip, drip, drip, the time for sacrificing our own should have long been past. We should never have gone into Iraq, of course, but what the hell are we still doing there?! Which is why you and I didn't mind one bit that we were pummeled by rain on Saturday...it's nothing compared to what our troops are going through. Bring. Them. Home.
Update 9/18/08 6:30pm: Two more casualties today - what in the world is going on?!

Protest Photos From Saturday...

I was so sad to have missed Saturday's protest due to a nasty stomach bug - it's only the second time I've missed, the first being last summer when I was in Chicago for the Yearly Kos Bloggers Conference. I missed being with all of you even then, while I was networking with 2,000 fellow progressives and promoting our cause. This time I felt a bit guilty. My place is on the street with all of you. But I felt pretty crummy, was running a fever, and of course I didn't want to expose anyone to my nasty germs. From the photos, though, I know that you held down the fort on Fort and welcomed the newcomers (Yay - we had some new people!) Thanks everyone, and I'll definitely see you Saturday!
