Protest Saturday April 12, 2008
With the Women in Black...

We are pleased and honored to welcome the Detroit Women in Black this week. They are a group of women who protest monthly at various locations in the Detroit area, and in spite of their name, they welcome everyone to participate.
From their website:
Women in Black-Detroit: We are women of varied ethnic and racial heritages who gather to oppose he use of violence and terror as a means to political ends.
You can find their schedule of dates and locations for upcoming months here. They typically wear black and march in silence, and I would encourage members of our group to wear black this week as well. As for remaining silent? Not likely for our group, but I'm sure we'll all get along just fine! I hope to have a large crowd, with enough of us to line both sides of Fort Street. We will have signs available both on the Wyandotte and Southgate sides, and that should help with the parking situation. We have been asked not to park in the Sunbeam lot, but we can use the north end of the empty lot at Fort and Chestnut on the Southgate side, and there is street parking on both of sides of Fort. As always, please be mindful of the neighbors and businesses, and be sure not to block driveways or obstruct sidewalk traffic. Don your black garb, grab a friend or the kids, and come on down!

Many thanks to Peter Werbe for putting the WIB in touch with us. Be sure to listen to his weekly radio show every Sunday at 11pm on WRIF 101FM.
See you at noon!
Peace, Pam
