Popsicle Toes...

13 chilly degrees. Ouch. This may have been the coldest protest day yet, but that didn't stop us. At least we had some sunshine, which helped a lot, but when the hour was up most of us were ready to hightail it out of there rather than hang around like we usually do. No matter, we did it! And this after Congressman Conyers came by to give us "permission" to skip out because of the frigid temperatures. Apparently he doesn't know us very well, because we were determined to stick it out! Good thing we did, because towards the end we had three new young people join us, and they all said they will be back. That alone made it worth it. Welcome Newbies!

Did you all see the nice write up in the News Herald? We made the front page, above the fold, so I expect we'll see a lot of new folks in the coming weeks due to the exposure. The last time we were in the paper new protesters turned up for months afterwards because they had read about our protest in the news. Here's a link to the article by Anne Sullivan. I was very pleased with it, with just one small quibble: she reported that we usually have a crowd of "about two dozen." I can't remember a time in recent weeks that we didn't get at least 35 people, and this week, cold as it was was, I think we had 38. Even so, it was a nice article, prominently placed, and I appreciate the publicity. Thanks Anne! Here are your photos from Saturday, courtesy of billyb.
